Welcome to Spring Field Dark Skies Eco Camp. Perched above the Shropshire Hills, we offer peaceful pitches, star-filled nights and visits from buzzards, owls and deer. We live gently on the land with off-grid systems and solar power, and we can’t wait to share our eco haven with you.
Every stay helps us protect this beautiful place. From our reed-bed water system to low-impact lighting and renewable energy, we work hard to keep the site wild and sustainable. Come, unwind and reconnect with nature and experience the magic of our dark skies.
Our pitches sit high above the Shropshire Hills AONB, giving you sweeping views. You can choose from grass or hardstanding pitches for tents, roof tents, campervans, motorhomes and trailer tents, all with access to solar-generated electric if you need it. For extra seclusion, we also offer a sheltered tent-only field and our hidden gem, “The Hide-Away.”
Caring for the land is at the heart of everything we do. We run almost entirely off-grid, powered by our large solar PV system, and keep lighting low to protect our Dark Skies. Waste water is treated naturally through our reed-bed system, and surplus energy is exported to the grid. By staying with us, you’re choosing a place that works hard to protect the enviroment.
Beyond the site, you’ll find endless adventures. Shrewsbury Canoe Hire operates right here, so you can hire a canoe and explore the River Severn. The Shropshire Hills and surrounding trails offer fantastic walking, wildlife spotting and photography opportunities. With the woodland sheltering us from roads and noise, it’s the perfect place to slow down and reconnect with nature.
To keep the site peaceful and child-friendly, we don’t accept dogs. This helps us maintain a calm atmosphere and protect the wildlife that wanders freely through the grounds. In the evening, you can join others at the communal fire pit, cook over the flames or simply sit back with binoculars and enjoy the Dark Skies above. You can also hire a fire pit or pizza oven for your pitch if you’d prefer a private fireside night.

Onsite, we provide clean, modern facilities with separate toilets, free heated showers, hair dryers, hand dryers and plenty of soap and sanitiser. You’ll also find black and grey-water disposal, plus a covered washing up area with large hot-water sinks. A communal fridge-freezer is available to keep your food cool throughout your stay.
At the heart of the field is our large communal fire pit, which is free to use whenever the weather allows. The shelter pod is a handy spot for charging your phone or reading in the evening, and free WiFi is available from every pitch. If you fancy a night off cooking, a local Thai takeaway can deliver straight to the site (the menu is in the pod).
Shrewsbury Canoe Hire is based right here too, making it easy to get out on the water. And if you’re exploring nearby, the lovely village of Much Wenlock is just 15 minutes away with shops, fuel and cosy pubs, including the George and Dragon. The Riverside Inn at Cross Houses, overlooking the River Severn, is another favourite for great food and views.
